We have an exciting position for a Fire Prevention Assistant to assist the Supervisor Fire Prevention to implement and execute fire prevention and maintenance program

- Assist the Supervisor Fire Prevention in the prevention and elimination of fires at the business unit to ensure fires are extinguished speedily and with minimal damage.
- Be responsible for the fitment of firefighting equipment with substances and appliances to prevent and / or minimise damage to property and ensure safety of employees, contractors and visitors.
- Assist the Fire Prevention Officer to coordinate and conduct emergency drills including fire to monitor and evaluate evacuation and emergency response procedures.
- Ensure inspection of new and existing buildings and structures to ensure compliance to applicable fire standards, code of Practices and regulations (etc.).
- Conduct daily inspections, maintenance and tests of firefighting equipment (fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, fire detection and suppression systems) are well executed and comply with applicable Codes of Practices, Standards and Procedures.
- Conduct inspections for firebreaks, emergency escape routes, evacuation plans and emergency assembly points for all buildings, structures and related working environments.
- Inspections of properties that store, handle, and use hazardous materials to ensure compliance with laws, code of practices and regulations.
Qualifications- Grade 12
- Fire Prevention & Risk Assessment Certificate (essential)
- Fire Reconditioning & Appliance Certificate
- Registered with SAQCC
- Industrial Fire Fighting
- First Aid Level 3
- Valid South African driver’s license
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in fire prevention and maintenance
